Cumberland County Man Critical After Assault: Police

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for an assault that left the victim in critical condition in Cumberland County, authorities said.

On Saturday, Aug. 12 at 11:36 p.m., Bridgeton police officers were dispatched to Myrtle Street for an assault.

Police found an unconscious 35-year-old Bridgeton man being treated by Bridgeton Fire/EMS. 

A short time later ER Staff contacted police and advised that the victim was in critical condition with a serious head injury. After further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was assaulted near the 200 block of Walnut Street.

Bridgeton Police arrested Julio Morales-Amilcar on Thursday, Aug. 17, and charged him with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

Morales- Amilcar was processed and sent to the Cumberland County Jail.

The victim is currently being treated at Cooper Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
